The Gorga glass collection

The "Soprintendenza Archeologica di Roma" and the Ist University of Rome have organized an exhibition on the Gorga glass collection in the Museum of Classical Art of the same Ist University of Roma "La Sapienza". The glasses exposed are just a little example of the enormous number of that ones (more than 150000 pieces) collected by Evan Gorga, an Italian tenor of the end of the XIXth century.

The Medieval vessels exposed are not numerouse, but there are important pieces as a gilt and enamelled little bottle (Constantinople XIIth century ?) and the more common beakers with prunts (XIII-XIV century).

The exhibition, where is on sale the catalogue, will last from 19th January to 20th February.
