Calabria of Castles

A photographic exhibition is placed in the castle, built in the age of Frederic II, of Roseto Capo Spulico, in province of Cosenza. The archaeological "Soprintendenza" of Calabria, the "Soprintendenza ai beni Artistici Architettonici Ambientali e Storici" of Calabria, the University of Reggio Calabria- department of architecture, the Italian Institute of the Castles supported this exhibition that will last from December 28, 1996 to January 28, 1997.
The exhibition is part of the cultural project "Calabria of the castles" that restored the important castles of Pizzo, Vibo Valentia, Scilla, Santa Severina and Roseto Capo Spulico.
The exhibition, that had the scientific advice of the prof. M. Cagliostro, teacher of History of the Architecture at the University of Reggio Calabria, is addressed most of all to the Calabrian students to bring them near to the rich artistic and cultural properties of their region.
I am particularly cheerful to speak about an initiative of medieval archaeology in a region of the southern Italy, like the calabrian one, that has a past to improve.
